BUS 505 - Organizational Theory and Design in Non-profit Organizations


Designed to familiarize the students with big four theoretical concepts regarding organizational theory (scientific management, administrative theory, bureaucracy and organizational structure and administrative behavior) applied on non-profit organizations. Students will learn about the effectiveness in community needs assessments, community asset identification, and utilization of other research findings to identify authentic community needs. Because of the unique status of non-profit organizations, leadership is perhaps the most critical of all topics, who leads and how leadership, decision making, and other executive functions are exercised are of paramount importance in the non-profit sector. Students gain skills in the analysis of organizational culture, the formation of an organization culture, and the role of staff training in the transmission of an organizational culture in non-profit organization.
