ART 116 - 3D Design


This introductory course focuses on the fundamentals of visual communication through the lens of three-dimensional design. Emphasis is placed on exploring the aesthetic relationships between form and space by applying design principles, spatial awareness, problem-solving skills, concept development and material exploration. Students will acquire hands-on craftsmanship skills and apply strategies of visual language and product development to create a portfolio of design based projects. Various techniques  will be covered through the utilization of various materials including wood, cardboard, paper, wire, plaster & clay. Reading, writing, discussion, and presentations will cover historical movements and contemporary topics of 3D design. No previous art experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome. Course Typically Offered: Every year.
