PSY 267 - Public Policy and Forensic Psychology The American Board of Forensic Psychology defines the discipline of forensic psychology as “the application of the science and profession of psychology to questions and issues relating to law and the legal system.” The central purpose of this course is to explore the intersection of forensic psychology and public policy, with a special focus on how psychological research informs and shapes policies related to mental health, criminal behavior, expert testimony, jury selection and decision-making, family law, and the challenges faced by law enforcement and correctional agencies. The course will also critically assess the influence of public policy on the practice of forensic psychology. Course Typically Offered: Every semester.
