PSY 580 - Foundations in Marriage and Family Therapy This course will provide an overview of the origins, theories, and techniques of marriage and family therapy (MFT). Through lectures, in-class activities, readings, and online discussion, students will learn how to apply systems theory to case conceptualization, assessment, and treatment in relational care using techniques that are strengths-based, collaborative, and deeply respectful of clients’ unique context, values, identity, and culture.
Prerequisites & Notes PSY 505 Professional Ethics & Orientation and in Counseling, PSY 510 Fundamentals of Counseling Theories and Skills I, and PSY 530 Fundamentals of Counseling Theories and Skills II.
