REH 222 - Mindfulness in the Helping Professions This course will introduce students to the concept of mindfulness with an analysis of the history and current literature. Evidence-based practices, cultural competence, and therapeutic applications will be discussed, with a focus on individuals with mental and physical disabilities including chronic pain, trauma, loss, and the impact of significant disabilities. Students will create a personal meditation audio recording, a nature-based activity, and a mindfulness activity lesson plan. Course Typically Offered: Every second spring.
