Through field investigations, students develop skills in geologic mapping, documenting structural features (folds, faults, fractures, fabrics), and synthesis. Topics include tectonic evolution of the Appalachian orogen, tectonic-climate interactions, structural-tectonic aspects of critical mineral deposits, and mechanics of ice sheets (pertinent to climate change).
