EDU 403 - Mathematics Methods for Elementary Education This course will address policy and trends in mathematics education in elementary school. The course will focus on current practices in teaching mathematics and will include lesson planning, assessment, integration, accessibility, curriculum design, mathematical communication, and the use of appropriate mathematical tools, manipulatives, and strategies. Students will be exposed to current research in mathematics education, and to national, state, and local discussions around the purpose of mathematics teaching and learning. Students will also engage in multiple approaches to problem-solving across content areas and grade levels. Course Typically Offered: Every semester.
Prerequisite(s): Two courses in mathematics; Candidacy; Junior status or above.
