This certificate program allows students to prepare for a professional year-round career in the snowsports industry while they are simultaneously engaged in the pursuit of their undergraduate college degree. The certificate program combines business or community health curriculum and ski classes with on-hill instruction experience and an internship, providing foundational skills for working in the snowsports industry. The courses in the certificate program prepare students for the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) level 1 certificate exams. The program coordinates especially well with UMF’s bachelor’s degree programs in ORBA (Outdoor Recreation Business Administration), Community Health (Outdoor Recreation Programming Concentration), Business/Economics, Individualized Studies, and General Studies; however, it is available to any UMF student regardless of major, and is also open to non-matriculated students. Completion of the certificate is recorded on the official UMF transcript.
