Special Education, Minor

The Special Education (SED) Minor provides students with the opportunity to explore issues of access and inclusion in K-12 education. SED minors will gain comprehensive knowledge related to valuing diversity and accommodating and supporting individuals with disabilities. The Special Education Minor comprises 20 credits as described below and is open to students in any major. A grade of B- or higher must be achieved in all special education courses to complete the minor successfully. Interested students must complete an application and essay, and submit it to the Special Education Department. Applicants meeting the following requirements will be considered for admission (based on the enrollment capacity of the program):
- Current GPA of at least 3.000
- 12 earned credits
- Essay indicating student rationale for minor
- Interview with a special education faculty member
NOTE: Courses from other institutions are not automatically equivalent for the minor.

Twenty Credits from the Following:
Total Credits for the Minor: 20
A minimum of one third of the required credits must be earned at UMF for a minor to be awarded.
