ARH 114A - Visual Culture I This course focuses on art and architecture within ancient through medieval visual cultures. Students will look at the different ways in which images create meaning, form visual languages, and drive society and politics. Areas of study include the Paleolithic cave paintings and sculpture, ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, ancient Greece and Rome, and early and medieval Christian imagery and architecture. Writing-intensive. Course Typically Offered: Every 2 years.
