HTY 271S - History of Medicine This course explores the historical relationships between disease and health and American society from the multiple perspectives of class, race, gender and ethnicity. Major themes include: changing concepts of disease; the growth of scientific medicine and medical institutions; environmental and occupational health; “alternative” medicine; public health and hygiene; and epidemics from smallpox to AIDS. Category III. GLOBAL CONCENTRATION. Course Typically Offered: Every 3 years.
